Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum and Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose on Thursday, confirmed that he would contest for the office of the presidency, come 2019 general election.The incumbent governor of Ekiti made the confirmation at Chelsea hotel in Abuja, where he reaffirmed his determination to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 general election.
The governor said he remained the best person to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls.Governor Fayose claimed he had the strength, knowledge and ‎mental capacity to run the affairs of the country if given the mandate.

A Nigerian man, Ojotomobor Ovuakponye has been sentenced to two years in prison by Justice   Mohammed Yahaya of the Kano State High Court for fraud charges.
 Ojotomobor Ovuakponye was arraigned in court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraudulently obtaining the sum of N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) from the account of one Jummai Ruqayya Mohammed.

COPS SHOOTS GIRLFRIEND DEAD WITH AK47


                               
A police officer in Nakuru County area of Kenya has reportedly shot his girlfriend dead on Tuesday evening before taking his life with the same AK47 rifle at their rental house in Freehold Area.
According to a report, the man identified as Stephen Mungai Kinuthia, who was stationed at Molo Police Station, is said to have shot his girlfriend three times.

The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday inaugurated “the first state-owned DNA Forensic Centre in West Africa”.Governor Ambode expects the facility to go a long way in resolving all forms of crimes, paternity issues, and others through technology which is the modern trend across the world.

He said the completion and handing over of the centre, located at Odunlami Street on Lagos Island, was a significant milestone and a symbolic manifestation of his administration’s policies in reforming the justice sector and in line with his vision to make the State safe for residents and investors.
“From the domestic front to our places of work; from the way we learn, to doing business, the use of technology has become a way of life,” the governor was quoted as saying in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Habib Aruna.

A statement signed by Emma Powerful, the spokesman of the group reads in part, “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who incidentally holds British citizenship has been missing since a detachment of exclusively Northern officers stormed his residence on Thursday 14, September 2017.  Ever since this brutal assault that left 28 dead inside his compound including two of his cousins, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu along with his parents His Royal Majesty Eze Israel Kanu and Ugoeze Sally Nmeme Kanu has not been seen. The video footage of the assault and the extent of destruction wreaked on his family home is in the public domain. Video clips and photographs of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s bedroom riddled with bullet holes from the guns of the Nigerian soldiers that stormed the palace are evident till today.”

LAI MOHAMMED REVEALS" KANU HAS CROSS A LINE"


                          
Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has rejected claims that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is being held by the Nigerian Government.
Mohammed’s claim is coming days after the Nigerian army, under the ‘Operation Python Dance II’ invaded home of the IPOB leader and clashed with members of the group in Umuahia, Abia state capital.

 Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar says despite fighting a civil war the Igbo have been able to rebuild their region, but that the north still has mud houses.He spoke on the background of the need for Nigeria to be restructured.Addressing a coalition of youth groups under the aegis of Play Forum in Abuja, Abubakar said those afraid of restructuring were lazy.He said every region in the country should be allowed to control its resources.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday announced the reshuffling of the chairmanship of senate committees.He said the move was designed to strengthen the red chamber and ensure that proper oversight functions were carried out.
The Senate Committee on Trade and Investments now has Senator Sabo Mohammed as the Chairman, while Senator Andy Uba (Anambra-South), who was Chairman of Committee on Public Accounts, was redeployed to Committee on Interior.

The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Igbo socio-cultural group, ‘Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo’ has cancelled the 2017 “Igbo Day” Celebration initially fixed for September the 29 in the state.
At a news conference in Yenagoa, the state capital, members of the pan Igbo social – cultural group say the decision was informed by recent disturbances in the South-East which call for prayers for peace in Nigeria.
