PDP DESCRIBED DEFECTION OF TWO OF IT'S MEMBERS VAGUE

                                

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has described the defection of two of its members Ahmed Tijani from Kogi state and Zaphaniah Jisalo from the FCT to the ruling all progressives congress (APC), as an act of illegality perpetrated on the floor of the house of representatives.

Spokesperson of the party, Dayo Adeyeye told newsmen in Abuja that their excuses for defecting from the PDP were vague, cooked up and purely irrelevant to any section of the Nigerian constitution. The PDP explained that the fact that there was no crisis or division within the leadership structure of the party which could justify the decision of the two house of representatives members to jump ship, Nigerians and the leadership of the national assembly, should know that they embarked on an illegal act, contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian constitution. The PDP urged the speaker and the body of principal officers of the house of representatives, to act in accordance with the oath of allegiance they took to defend the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria by immediately ensuring that the seats of the defectors are declared vacant .

The PDP said it remains committed and patriotic to the constitutional position taken by Yakubu Barde from Kaduna and that of Ossai Nicholas Ossai from delta state who stood against the defection of the two former members of the party, in the chambers of the house of representatives.The party however added that the Supreme Court, has decided in a landmark judgment delivered on July 12, 2017, that there was no leadership crisis in the PDP and as such, the party under the acceptable leadership of the national caretaker committee (NCC) is the only leadership recognized by law as the authentic leadership of the PDP.
